Special Education Program

Special education is an integral component of our educational program. Students with disabilities have access to all district programs, including extracurricular activities. Most students in special education programs earn a local or Regents high school diploma. Those who are particularly challenged earn an IEP diploma.

A full continuum of special education services are offered to qualified disabled students. While the Committee on Special Education (CSE) makes a recommendation to the Board of Education based on a multi-disciplinary evaluation, it does so with the involvement of the parent(s) and student, whenever possible.
